CEBU, Philippines - For your Chinese fix, Choi City Seafood Restaurant offers new menu options beyond your usual dimsum and Cantonese staples.
Six new dishes were added to the extensive menu of 300 food choices: since Choi is a primarily a live seafood restaurant they've included Steamed Sea Mantis with Egg White, and the spicy Hungarian Rock Lobster (from Zamboanga) with Efu Noodles; Spicy Squid with Bell Pepper; the spicy stir fry dish of chicken, veggies, chili peppers and peanuts – Kung Pao Chicken; Stuffed Minced Pork with bell pepper & Taosi Sauce; and Pork Spareribs with the interesting Plum Sauce. "We always come up with new dishes every month for variety," Assistant Manager Elmer Santos relates.
Apart from these interesting additions, they've recently concocted the delightful Suckling Pig Trifecta – a layer of Cebuano lechon skin, chicken liver and pork asado; and the New Choi City Fried Rice with added spice for that distinct kick. Still winning hearts are its specialties that include the tasty soupy meat dumpling, Xiao Long Bao – its signature dish, the Shredded Sea Cucumber with Fish Lip Soup, Pecking Duck, Roast Layered Pork, among many others, as well as sweet treats such as taro pao, mango pomelo sago with ice cream, and coffee jelly.

Another surprise is the easy-on-the-budget meals of rice toppings pegged at P100+ each. Choices are Roast Asado, Roast Duck, Roast Layered Pork, White Chicken and Chicken, all with rice. Or cozy up with a bowl of any of these noodle soups: Curry Beef Belly & Wanton Noodle Soup, Fishball Noodle Soup and Meatball Noodle Soup.
Lunch also spells festive at Choi with its Shabu-Shabu Buffet Lunch (Mon. to Sat.) enjoyed with choice meats, fresh veggies, special broth, and other Shabu-Shabu delicacies. The food promo priced at P398 net per head with free drink is extended until September 30, 2012.
Set menus are also available starting at P4,800 which include eight dishes, including rice, soup and dessert good for 12 pax. Moreover, Santos said that they can create a menu tailor-fit to the customer's budget. He also added that function rooms can be used for free by diners upon reservation.
Come August 17, 2012, Choi will hold a cooking contest to be participated by local colleges and universities to be held at the restaurant. The winning dish will be included in the glossy menu.
Choi will also soon launch its catering services. Lastly, diners can enjoy dining privileges via its Prestige Card which entitles a member 5 percent rebate from the total bill. Membership fee is P500 only for a year. Initial card is the Red Prestige Card which can later be upgraded to Gold which has a 10 percent rebate if it reaches P200,000 worth of accumulated bills.
