New Choices at Choi

- Jen F. Vega - The Philippine Star

CEBU, Philippines - For your Chinese fix, Choi City Seafood Restaurant offers new menu options beyond your usual dimsum and Cantonese staples.

Six new dishes were added to the extensive menu of 300 food choices: since Choi is a primarily a live seafood restaurant they've included Steamed Sea Mantis with Egg White, and the spicy Hungarian Rock Lobster (from Zamboanga) with Efu Noodles; Spicy Squid with Bell Pepper; the spicy stir fry dish of chicken, veggies, chili peppers and peanuts – Kung Pao Chicken; Stuffed Minced Pork with bell pepper & Taosi Sauce; and Pork Spareribs with the interesting Plum Sauce. "We always come up with new dishes every month for variety," Assistant Manager Elmer Santos relates.

Apart from these interesting additions, they've recently concocted the delightful Suckling Pig Trifecta – a layer of Cebuano lechon skin, chicken liver and pork asado; and the New Choi City Fried Rice with added spice for that distinct kick. Still winning hearts are its specialties that include the tasty soupy meat dumpling, Xiao Long Bao – its signature dish, the Shredded Sea Cucumber with Fish Lip Soup, Pecking Duck, Roast Layered Pork, among many others, as well as sweet treats such as taro pao, mango pomelo sago with ice cream, and coffee jelly.
