Aside from being the primary expert on her father’s paintings — their subjects and authenticity, she has also kindled the legacy of her father by establishing a private painting school in Manila and initiating a national art competition as a tribute to the Grand Old Man of Philippine Art, with tons of help, of course, from son, Fernando “Nandy” Lazo.
“I have so much respect for the craft because Papa gave much importance to his studies based on actual scenes; drawing actual people – from farmers working in the fields, to dalagitas washing clothes or selling fruits.
