Cathay Pacific Cebu Welcomes Chicago Flights

While bidding farewell to Camilla Taylor & Hello to Maggie Wong

Chicago –The Windy City - is the third most visited city in the United States. It’s no surprise then, that Cathay has decided that this would be its next American city to fly to! And Cathay Pacific’s Cebu team jumped on the opportunity to showcase the city with cocktails to launch the upcoming destination.

Seen at the event were the airline’s top tier Marco Polo Frequent Flyer members, loyal travel agents, cargo forwarders, friends from the business and industry sectors of Cebu. All came eagerly looking forward to what Chicago has in store for them. After all, Chicago boasts of more than 200 live theatres and art galleries, is home to the “Magnificent Mile”– a shopping mecca, and is the birthplace of the skyscraper! Not only that, in Chicago, you’ll find the famous deep-dish pizza, and the Italian Beef Sandwich, just two of their their local specialties.

Cathay Pacific’s daily flights between Hong Kong and Chicago started last September 1, and of course, an introductory price for Cebu-Chicago-Cebu was on offer at just USD 840 per person!

The event was also an opportunity for friends of the airline to bid farewell to Manager Cebu Camilla Taylor and to welcome the amiable Maggie Wong, as she takes over the reins in the Cebu office.

Farewell and welcome speeches were said and tokens were not forgotten. Maggie was welcomed with a beautiful export-quality minaudiere proudly designed and produced in Cebu. It will definitely be useful as Maggie is expected to attend a number of event during her stint in Cebu.

Camilla, on the other hand, received a photo book compiling the memories of her one-year stint as Port Manager. At the same time, she was posed a challenge as the Cathay Cebu staff presented her with one of Cebu’s most famous souvenirs – a guitar, which she promised to learn to play.

A lucky draw ended the evening’s programme with lunch and dinner certificates, as well as an overnight stay at the Radisson Blu raffled off to lucky guests. Of course, the grand prize of the night was a roundtrip ticket from Cebu to Chicago, which was won by none other than Atty. Paul Alcazaren of the Bureau of Customs.

To ensure everyone remembers to take Cathay Pacific on their next flight to Chicago, all guests got a chance to have a photo with the Chicago skyline in the background and also got to bring home a tin of the famous Chicago popcorn. (FREEMAN)
