Archcon 2010: The grandest of its kind ever

CEBU, Philippines - Archcon 2010 was a smashing success! Held recently at the Ayala Activity Center, it was a unique, once-in-a lifetime gathering that brought all anime & gaming lovers together in one big whole-day event. There were several exciting contests and activities in the fields of cosplay (costume & role play), drawing, and gaming. Cosplayers, video game enthusiasts, artists, and hobbyists filled the Activity Center. The cosplay was composed of a wide variety of anime and video game characters many of us are familiar with such as Naruto, Hatsune Miku, Oversoul, and so many other colorful characters. Well-known artists such as Bleedman, also graced the occasion.

The cosplay contest allowed the cosplayers to display their talents in acting and portraying their supposed anime or video game character in the most convincing manner. Contestants were judged both on-stage and off-stage. Meanwhile, the drawing contest attracted several artists who composed original artworks on the spot. Simultaneously, staunch gamers were able to see who reigned supreme in the video game tournament.

This unique event was also a good chance for enthusiasts to show their latest artworks as well as signing autographs for fans. Anime Music Videos were displayed on the big screen for people to watch. Several talents and hobbies such as beat-boxing, guitar-playing, and karate were also showcased during the event.

Those who witnessed Archcon 2010 agree that it was a big hit. Archcon 2010 received a lot of positive feedback from people who attended it. The event itself drew a large crowd who actively cheered for their favorites. 

Archcon 2010 is organized by the members of the Anime Manga and The Gaming Group(AMTG) Club of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu ably headed by its dynamic and creative coordinator, Mr. Michael Abello, a talented computer instructor of SHS-Ateneo de Cebu. Funds generated from the event were donated to the school’s Mission Drive, a program intended to mobilize outreach and charitable activities of the school.
