The venerable Ignacia del espiritu santo

In commemoration of the 262nd death anniversary and the 90th year of her Service Legacy in Cebu, the Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo was remembered with a Tridium of Masses for her beatification at the St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish, Sto. Rosario Parish Church and on the day, at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral with Msgr. Roberto “Boy” Alesna officiating.

The intention of the Mass Tridium is the beatification of Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo and in thanksgiving for the 90 years of her Service Legacy through the presence of the RVM Sisters in the Archdiocese of Cebu.

It will be recalled that on July 6, 2007, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI signed the Decretum Super Virtutibus, otherwise known as the Decree of Virtues, that: “the Servant of God, Ignacia del Espiritu Santo, Foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary is found to possess to a Heroic Degree the Theological Virtues of Faith, Hope and Charity toward God and Neighbor, as well as the Cardinal Virtues of Prudence, Justice, Temperance and Fortitude.”

After the Mass, Msgr. Roberto Alesna and Ms. Chinggay Utzurrum cut the ribbon to open an exhibit on the Life and Works of Venerable Ignacia del Espiritu Santo at the Cathedral Museum of Cebu. Hosting the program was Sis. Fely Declaro, MIM Coordinator.
