CEBU, Philippines - Opportunities to learn about green plumbing, green architecture, green construction projects, and to experience green shopping are the features that make Philconstruct Visayas the region's most impressive construction show in the country to date.
An overview of high performance green building, salient points of the PSVARE (Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air-Conditioning, and Refrigerating Engineers) energy efficient standards, and green building rating system for the Philippines are today's topics on the second day of the TechnoForum Visayas 2010 initiated by the Philippine Constructors Association, Inc. in relation to yesterday's opening of the Visayas International Construction Equipment and Building Materials, Interior and Exterior Products and Services Exhibition and Technology Forum.
Not only is the event a convergence of engineers, architects, and other industry professionals from the show's supporting organizations such as the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, the United Architects of the Philippines, the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers, it will also bring to the industry the crucial role of plumbers with the presence of the members of the National Master Plumbers Association of the Philippines.
Edgar Watin, chairman of the TechnoForum Visayas, pointed out that environmentally conscious plumbers have significant roles to play in water supply and conservation as well as in wastewater management.
In a press conference and event launch last September 2, it was learned from the event organizers that the three-day technology forum is geared at strengthening the construction industry and authority and in providing continuing education to skilled workers, contractors and other stakeholders providing valuable learning opportunities on the latest industry trends and in growing one's business ventures.
Felizardo Sevilla, Jr., the overall chairman of Philconstruct Visayas 2010, said that aside from education, the event brings in technologies and products to benefit not only the professionals but the public, as well.
The exhibition was envisioned last year to provide function (substance) and not just form; where products will be applied not just showcased, according to Philcon Visayas chairman Bernard Vonn Sia.
PCA past president Emilio Tumbocon called on the public to make good use of the long holiday by taking advantage of this event which serves as a convergence of all major products, green technologies and methodologies, and opportunities to adopt to new technology used globally.
To which PCA executive director Manolito Madrasto said in addition that the show is an avenue for visitors to be informed about paint products that eat up air pollution. "This is not thought of, not advertised. But the exhibit will bring in technically well-versed people who could talk endlessly about the nuances of technology."
Around 500 exhibitors support the event. Sia said that because Philconstruct is a one-stop shop of construction products for residential and commercial purposes, the exhibit is set to meet every business need like top-of-the-line products and services in building, construction, and the Heating, Ventilating, Air-conditioning and Refrigerating industries; new design and construction opportunities; as well as special packages for on-site deals and purchases.
Sia also said that the industry's leading brands get to host free seminars and product presentations and that special pavilions showcase the region's finest in architecture and interior design.
Entrance to the event at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino Lahug is free. Show hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Sept. 10/today) and 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Sept. 11/tomorrow).
