Fab Four Dishes

- Stacy Danika S. Alcantara -

What do you get when you throw  in Knorr, Chef Martin Kabigting, and Gaisano Grand Mactan into one pot on a sunshiny day in May? You get one delish Cooking Fiesta that’s sure to put in a dash of vitality into meal time from then on.

Food has long been an important part of the Filipino culture. In the Philippines, food isn’t just there to feed the stomach. Food exists to feed the soul, as well. Filipinos love to eat not because we are always craving for something to satisfy our hunger but because we are a very social crowd to begin with.

Lunch and dinner are among our day’s milestones because these are the perfect times for us to reconnect with the people whom we consider family. We talk about anything and everything over food. We celebrate life’s milestones over food and we build relationships over food.

Meals are integral to us because inasmuch as it soothes us from a hard day’s work, it brings us together.

When Filipinos talk about meals, these are not the fancy restaurant food that few may enjoy occasionally but these are the simple, everyday meals whipped up by the special people in our lives—the kind home-cooked goodness that we will never get tired of coming back home to.

When Unilever Philippines and Unilever Foodsolutions brought in Unilever Foodsolutions Sous Chef Martin Kabigting to Gaisano Grand Mactan to create fresh twists on old favorites, Cebuanos were treated to an afternoon fare like no other celebrating home-cooked goodness that’s easy on the pocket and easy enough for the preoccupied cook at home.

The former Chef de Partie of Dusit Nikko Hotel gave dishes like the classic Cebuano favorite, Utan Bisaya a new lease on life and even brought to the forefront upcoming favorites like Pad Thai. He also shared nifty new ways on how to amp up the delicioso-factor of Sinampalokang Manok without busting your budget.

Here’s your ultimate cheat sheet on making every meal time muy saboroso (straight from the expert himself, Chef Martin Kabigting)!
