CEBU, Philippines - During the inauguration of the Annex Building of the Cebu Puericulture Center & Maternity House, Inc. with donor Atty. Augusto W. Go as guest of honor, CPCMHI President Flor Streegan and members of her board were already apprehensive on how to go about in finishing the last stage of the Development Plan which was to renovate the existing old building’s second floor. The board was aware that this would entail another huge amount to do so.
But God provides! Before the CPCMHI ladies started to solicit donations, it was just so timely that the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (RAFI) offered to refurbish the second floor, specifically the Aboitiz Wards (now Doña Dolores Aboitiz Ward A & B) even without their asking. The initial MOA had a grant of P2,500,000.00. As the refurbishing continued, new beds, central electric fans and other amenities were added until the expenses reached P4,000,000.00.
At any rate, last March 28, 2010,Marian Aboitiz, Chairperson of theExecom of Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Funds inked the Memorandum of Agreement by endorsing the new spic and span wards to President Flor Streegan in the presence of RAFI officers: Domie Chua – COO, Annabelle Fajardo – Deputy Executive Director for Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Funds and Chary Aboitiz, director; and the CPCMHI directors present were: Dr. Raida Varona, Medical Director, Dr. Iris Jakosalem Lastimosa, Dr. Suga Sotto Yuvienco, Dr. Rebecca Gucor, Letty Canoy, president, Cebu Woman’s Club, Lucille Colina, Terry Manguerra and others.
Marian Aboitiz, chairperson of the Execom of Dolores Aboitiz Children’s Funds, indeed was happy and congratulated the officers and directors of CPCMHI for assisting RAFI in finishing the last stage of their Development Plan which was to finishing the existing old building’s second floor. Your prayers were answered, ladies!
