Formo holiday dining

CEBU, Philippines - The frequent star of my Facebook’s daily status update is my nightly romp at my favorite lounge, Formo. More often, not remembering how I got home from apparently too much cocktail fun follows and, on occasion, even bumping into their glass doors. But apart from being “the” place-to-be for unwinding after the daily grind, Formo is also one of the City’s best kept dining secrets.

Yes, before the late night booze come into play and the party music elevates to euphoria, loyal patrons slip in early to grab dinner from their very diverse menu of contemporary cuisine. And with the holiday season just around the corner the resto-lounge decks their food list with more delightful eats. Leave it up to the inventive instincts of Chef Lor Torres to whip up new and fancy creations for their Christmas Menu.

Well, let’s put it this way, I had an early Christmas treat for I was the first to sample a few mouthfuls. Okay, okay, tis the time for sharing and here is a preview of this gastronomic experience. For starters are the Pizziettas—crisp fried Asian wrap served with tomato concase, diced onions, cheese and spicy carnetas on the side. Be careful, these bite-size delights are quite filling! While the Cold Pesto Salad is a generous serving of Fusilli pasta tossed in homemade pesto dashed with sunflower seeds and walnuts for that distinctive flavor. Then comes two new dinner additions: the Veggie Wrap—is a medley of fresh lettuce and tropical vegetables wrapped in pita bread drizzled with pesto and sour cream. This is a healthier and lighter alternative of house favorite Chicken Wrap. And finally, my personal hit-pick, the Grilled Moroccan Chicken—poultry cutlets marinated in Moroccan spices and grilled to juicy perfection. Dip it on the sour cream to induce its extraordinary taste!
