Freedom glam

CEBU, Philippines –  “Cause you’re free, to do what you want to do, you’ve got to live your life, do want you want to do” — Ultra Nate

Rather than my usual monthly round up, this Independence Day weekend is just too good to wait for my next month’s column. The buzz was: Vudu Lounge declared a three-day long Indepen-Dance party. Therefore when the clock striked midnight, the day job was abandoned to embrace the real gadabout, that’s me.

The Eve. Music enthusiasts of the 80s and 90s jammed with UK Lily dishing out the best of the roaring decades. Cebu’s very own Cattski made a special performance that evening. Then, resident DJs Marlon Orellano and Maxie Perez pumped up the Prive lounge and the main room spinning the best mixes.

Freedom Day! Dress code was waived for the entire celebration. Thus, clubbers and partygoers came in their dressed-down selves and exercised their freedom to self expression, raving with R n’ B DJ Kutlyfe. Turning its usual Vudulicious Fridays to Avant-garde, the evening featured a Photo Exhibit and Mannequin Show showcasing the works of Jan Gonzales, Tom Frances Evangelista and Noreen Tseng. AD Models strutted their wares for the fashion.

Glam Nyt. Okay, this time around I had to step out of my Vudu fever and stepped into my glamorous shoes as sister lounge, Formo, went Go Glam for its Disco Deluxe. It was also Bite Magazine’s Bite Night, thus, notching the glam level that evening was a one-of-a-kind appearance of Cebu’s premier make-up artists Romero Vergara and Jessie Glova as their diva doppelganger in a fabulous musical revue. They waved that rainbow with pride, in behalf of the community to celebrate the Pride month, too. Go sisters!
