A romantic Valentine escapade on an island

CEBU, Philippines - Valentine’s Day has passed but the Love Month is far from over, and literally love is still in the air.

The misty weather brought about by a low-pressure area hovering nearby on Valentine’s Day failed to completely dampen the heat of love felt by couples who chose to mark the day with a romantic dinner by the sea at Maribago Bluewater Resort’s Alegrado Island.

Love pairs who took part in Maribago Bluewater’s Dinner Date Special started the Valentine cruise from Tsai Restaurant in Crossroads, Banilad to Maribago Bluewater Resort via the Love Bus.

On board, after the guys handed red balloons to their ladies, the lovey doveys were then treated to a Game of Love by the resort staff, with stuffed Dolpo Dolphin as prizes.

After a 45-minute ride to the resort, the couples were then welcomed with a Tahitian drumbeat and ushered to a red carpet pathway illuminated with lamps perched on a bamboo leading to the beachfront cocktail.

Not minding the rains, some couples took the love boat to get to Alegrado Island while others braved the low tide with arms interlaced with each other as they waded through the shallow water to the island.

Prior to the romantic four-course dinner, the ladies each got a Valentine classic long-stemmed rose from their men while bossa nova and jazz rhythms filled the air with a sense of romance and love courtesy of the Music & Rhythm band and D Island Rhythm band.

The entire Valentine setup on Alegrado Island managed to shine through the overcast of rains with each couple lauding the effort of the resort’s staff for a romantic job well done.

And for those lovebirds who cancelled their plans of going out on that day of hearts due to the rain showers and gushing winds, you still got till the end of the month or the entire year to celebrate your love for each other.

I guess the world will be a better place anyway if Valentine’s Day is celebrated the whole year round, then world peace will be just around the bend if that happens. May everyday be Valentine’s Day for everyone. Keep on loving and spread the love bug around.
