October Sons

Who needs to leave the house when the party is just right in your own living room? Thus, instead of my usual fluttering around the city’s nightly scenes, I did not need to go out of my way to have fun when the three most important men in my life celebrated their birthdays with flare and extravagance. And I’m talking about my nephews.

Instead of a usual kiddie party, Raphael Pilapil Trinidad had only one wish for his seventh birthday: return to the Shangri-La Resort and Spa. No, he’s not after the beach and definitely not the spa but the resort’s Adventure Zone. And he certainly did all the adventuring that all the money can buy, and even more. Meanwhile, Viggo Pilapil Montealto had an NBA all-stars theme for his second year. Jersey clad juniors were treated to an afternoon of savory food and lots of fun and prizes. Making the party most memorable for the kids was the giant inflatable castle and slide erected majestically in our front yard. You could just imagine all the running and sliding around. Hey, even the kids-at-heart just had to do the slide even for only one time.

Finally, Errol Dylan Cabatingan donned on some rodeo boots and hat for his cowboy day. It was a ‘yepee-kayey’ fun for youngsters who came with their best western costumes. But for some reason, it was the adults who were the most rowdy that day ‘til night. Go figure. Yeehaa!
