Gallery of Prints (www.gop.com.ph)

It’s an antiquarian and antique print gallery, with clients both here and abroad. They do, however, specialize in items that have its roots in the country, and the products that they deal range from maps, to post-cards, posters, books and actual paintings themselves. You can search for the item that you’d like to see either by doing a search on its maker, or the title of the piece itself. And, if you like what you see, then you might want to get that piece for yourself. As a gallery, they do sell several items, you know. On the other hand, if it just so happens that you’re not quite interested in adding to your treasure trove of historical finds, you might want to take steps that the one’s you have are well taken care of, just in case. Visit the Frame Shop, a section of the site created particularly to meet the framing requirements of the gallery’s collection. If it’s good enough for them, then it’s definitely good for you. It’s better to take your advice from the pros.

WineWorld (www.wineworld. com.ph)

Supposedly the first wine club in the country, Wineworld’s main objective is “to bring the best wines of various regions and deliver them right to your door.” They have anything and everything that a wine connoisseur will ever want or need in this lifetime. Membership is free, and you even get a five percent discount if you order online. What’s even nicer is that if you order more than a thousand’s worth, then the wine really does get delivered right to your door. Salud!

Pinoy PC Network (www.pinoypc.net)

Techie, geeks, or newbie, the Pinoy PC Network is the perfect resource for anyone who wants to get the 411 on computer products. There are various articles and message boards that discuss all the usual and unusual topics, but the best thing about the site, however, is a section called Price Compare. In that section, a discerning soon to be buyer gets to compare the prices and models of whatever it is that he/she is planning to buy, which translates to getting the best product there is without physically making the rounds.

Kalusugan.org (www.kalusugan.org)

The clearing-house project should be commended for its valiant attempt at promoting widespread awareness as far as reproductive health is concerned. It is much-needed service in the kind of world that we live in today. That said, let me say that a couple of changes are in order. Here are a couple of suggestions on what to do; instead of just posting a list of books and their summaries, why not have actual articles and stories on the various usefulness and invariably make it more interesting to go through. Photos and/or some graphics might be good idea, too, and decrease the font size just a teeny tiny bit.

Power Books Online (www.power books.com.ph)

It’s a pretty straightforward site, something that makes for really smooth navigation. However, straightforward as it may be, it’s really nothing more than an online directory of all the titles that they have. They did manage to include a couple of add-on’s, like the “we recommend” section, which basically lists Power Books’ best sellers. The other “bonus” sections include the “news and events” and “services” sections, the former being an online bulletin of sorts, with announcements on poetry reading sessions, book launches, among others. There is no doubt that the site is incredibly informative and useful, but more visually stimulating content would be nice too.
