Carcar City was glittering during their fiesta celebration.
Recently, I was invited by Joey Noel Alfafara, external vice president and public relations officer of Carcar Heritage Conservation Society, Inc. (CHCS), to cover the Festival of Lights in homage to Santa Catalina de Alexandria. The Festival of Lights is the CHCS offering to propagate the devotion to their beloved patron, Sta. Catalina. This is the first time they used four carrozas to depict her martyrdom as a part of the traditional procession.
There were 120 student dancers who wore specially-designed lantern headgear and carried hand-lights who accompanied the four carrozas back to Balay na Tisa. The carrozas were decorated with flowers. The santos’ carrozas belong to members of the carro and icon caretakers organization of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Catherine de Alexandria.
