My Journey with the Ambassador
July 4, 2006 | 12:00am
A booming city like Cebu offers a wide variety of amenities for people's comfort. Wellness facilities like spas and gyms have been steadily mushrooming here and there. Shopping and entertainment centers are growing in number, too. But nothing can ever beat the growing number of centers designed to satisfy the palate.
The Ambassador's Cafe along Tojong Street is a new addition. It shows to be a promising restaurant though only three months old. It boasts of good food with affordable prices.
As it is said, a journey starts with a single step. My step through the doors of the Ambassador's Café transported me to the homey ambience of this one-room restaurant. The setting just gave me the feeling that I belonged to the place and that I had every right to be there. I was warmly greeted and seated. And so, my gastronomic journey with the "Ambassador" started with the Green Garden Tropical Salad with passion fruit. This salad has an interchangeable dressing: the honey and olive dressing or the mango dressing. Whatever dressing is used, this salad is composed of fresh ingredients - organic romaine lettuce and several fruits. A healthy choice for the health conscious.
Next, I was treated to the delightful aroma of the smoking Beef Stew with boiled potato. It was as tasteful as it was aromatic. Cheese and Onion Schintzel became my favorite that night although I had difficulty with the spelling. Simply put, this dish is breaded pork fillet with cheese and onions. And then, there was Pasta ala Ambassador's & bread. This is a combination of linguini with homemade ham, fresh tomato and basil.
To end my gastronomic journey, there was Apple crumble and cappuccino. I especially liked the crust of this dessert because it has a distinctive taste of almond.
It was a journey of good food and good conversation. I'll definitely repeat the experience soon. Why not start your own journey with the "Ambassador" now?
