Lacson dismisses Cayetano’s mockery

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo Lacson brushed off Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano’s recent statements labeling him as the Senate’s “chief justice” and “prosecutor,” saying he would have taken the titles as a compliment if they came from a credible source.

The exchange is the latest flare-up in the dispute over alleged ghost projects and infrastructure anomalies in Taguig.

Reacting to a livestream where Cayetano accused him of acting like a “one-man justice department,” Lacson took to X on Wednesday to fire back.

“IF THIS WERE COMING FROM SOMEONE CREDIBLE, I’D TAKE IT AS A COMPLIMENT: ‘Si Senator Lacson kasi ano na eh, Chief Justice Lacson, Prosecutor Lacson, DOJ Lacson, persecutor Lacson. Siya na lahat. Secretary Lacson, siya na nagdidikta eh,’– Alan Peter Cayetano,” Lacson posted.

Cayetano’s remarks stemmed from his frustration over Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon’s recent clarification that investigations into Taguig infrastructure projects remain ongoing and subject to validation.

Cayetano insisted that Dizon should have stood by his earlier declaration that there were no ghost projects in Taguig.

Defending his aggressive pursuit of the alleged anomalies, Lacson maintained that his actions are strictly driven by evidence rather than politics.
