Taking the film festival route this season is action star Robin Padilla via his entry titled “10,000 Hours.†Robin returns to the genre he loves best – action! And with his dear friend Bb. Joyce Bernal directing the film, we know Robin is in good hands.
The action star hasn’t done a movie for the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) in a very long time. If our memory serves us right, the last time Robin had an entry at the MMFF was in 1986 via the movie “Carnap King.†But he was not a big star then, just one of the supporting actors. In fact, he even got a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work in the film. It was no big deal then because all the stars in the movie get automatic nominations.
Sometime in the 1990s, Viva Films fielded the Robin movie “Anak ni Baby Ama,†directed by the action star’s discoverer and mentor, Deo Fajardo, Jr., but it failed to impress the screening committee and was rejected. When the movie was shown right after the festival, it became a blockbuster and made Robin an even bigger star.
In the movie “10,000 Hours,†Robin is playing the role of a former police officer turned senator who had to elude the law to save him from false accusations. They say this is based on the story of former Sen. Panfilo Lacson when the lawmaker went into hiding at the time when the government of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo wanted his neck for some cases he was supposedly involved in.
We would be happy to see Robin win the filmfest Best Actor award for “10,000 Hours.†We hope our wish comes true.

Kapuso actress and Viva contract star Heart Evangelista is Tanduay Rhum’s new calendar girl. The big reveal was done Thursday night at Sequia Hotel in Quezon City.
When asked if her special someone, Sen. Chiz Escudero, approved of her decision to pose sexy in the liquor brand’s calendar, Heart answered that they don’t meddle in each other’s work and respect the decisions made with regards to their respective careers.
“It’s a liberating feeling to go out of your comfort zone. It’s a nice feeling to be able to decide on my own and be independent,†said the actress who also had a hand in the calendar’s concept together with the people from Tanduay.
Heart also said that doing a sexy pictorial for the liquor brand is also her way of saying that she is ready to accept more mature roles. She is currently doing a movie with Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes for Viva Films.
When asked if she would also be willing to pose for a men’s magazine and show a little bit more naughtiness, she said, “I am not saying I am not naughty, pero wag naman ako magpa-sexy nang sobra.â€

“My Little Bossings†is a movie meant for the family and that could be an advantage for this Vic Sotto, Ryzza Mae Dizon, James “Bimby†Yap and Kris Aquino starrer directed by Marlon Rivera. The movie is a story of friendship, commitment and love, well-loved traits that speak of the message of the Christmas season.
This is the debut film assignment of Bimby and as Kris said, if “My Little Bossings†would be the first and last movie of her son, she wants him to experience working with Bossing Vic. The host of the top-rating and number one noontime show “Eat Bulaga†has remained friends with the actors he has worked with and it would be to Bimby’s advantage to work with the most professional people in the industry.
For his part, Vic says Bimby has the potential as an actor and he believes he could go a long way if ever Bimby takes to acting as a career. As a mother, Kris said she wants her son to finish college before she would allow him to embark into showbiz full blast. But if Bimby decides to embark in a career in sports, Kris would support him as well.
Bimby gets the chance to work with popular child star Ryzza Mae in “My Little Bossings†and the kids hit it off quite well. True, both have their own quirks but they easily developed chemistry that proved to be a plus factor for the film.
Both Vic and Kris expressed confidence that “My Little Bossings†will be one of the frontrunners in the festival when it comes to box-office receipts. The movie is a joint venture of M-Zet, OctoArts, APT Entertainment and Kris Aquino Productions.
