TV personality Jasmine Curtis-Smith is the newest addition to the growing roster of celebrity endorsers of the country’s leading clinic for face, body and medical services – Flawless. Jasmine, the younger sister of Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis, was launched as the Flawless new brand ambassador. She was specifically handpicked by Flawless CEO Rubby Sy to headline Flawless’ beauty campaign for this year.
“She epitomizes everything we want to convey to the public about our brand – young, vibrant, carefree, confident, beautiful and sexy. We are very glad she is part of our family now and we are looking forward to a mutually-beneficial partnership with her,†says the Flawless CEO.
Jasmine is excited to play a role in the overall success scheme of her new endorsement even as she looks forward to going back to acting in a new sitcom for TV5. She is also a full time student and is looking forward to enrolling in a college (she took the college entrance exam in Ateneo).
In an interview after the presscon, Jasmine says she is excited about her forthcoming show for TV5, a sitcom, which is her new assignment after the action-drama series “Ang Utol Kong Hoodlum†with JC De Vera. The sitcom is supposed to start in March but Jasmine says they would still have to meet with TV5 regarding the details of her new show. “I am going to try my hand in comedy. Other than that, I am doing a movie which is an entry in Cinemalaya. Once everything is signed and confirmed, I will definitely announce it,†said the Kapatid network artist.
That is going to be Jasmine’s first movie and her first ever Cinemalaya entry. She is aware how big an event the Cinemalaya independent film festival is and in fact, her Ate Anne had been inviting her to watch some of the film entries in the indie filmfest but she never found the time to do so. “I’ve been planning to watch but I really can’t find the time for it,†says Jasmine who says her role in her debut movie is quite challenging.
“I play a young teenager in the film but then my role is different in the sense that it’s not how I would be towards other people. I really can’t say much yet about my role since it was only the other day that I got wind of the offer and talked about it,†added Jasmine who is likewise looking forward to going to college even as she gives focus to her acting career.
But she rues that she can’t be with her mom who chose to stay in Australia. “I already made up my mind that I want to stay here in the Philippines to study and to get my career going. I’ve taken an exam in Ateneo and La Salle but I am still waiting for the results. I can also study in a university in Australia which has an extension school here,†she said.
Jasmine was also asked to clear the issue linking her to Sam Concepcion. “We’re friends,†she said. “We go out. We watch movies. We just hang out as friends.â€
Is he courting you? “Tanungin ninyo na lang siya (Just ask him),†she replied.
But do you think he is courting you? “Ah, basta we hang out. Basta iyon ‘yun.â€
But does Sam know that you have something even if you are not here? “Mahirap naman iyon kung wala ako rito. Mahirap din yon. Wala naman kaming agreement about what it is that we have. But I am not saying nor denying anything about me and Sam. Whatever is there, it’s there. Hang out, hang out lang kami,†said Jasmine who is careful not to deny nor confirm anything about the status of her relationship with Sam.

Jake Cuenca received an offer to do an indie film that will be an entry to the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival in July. Jake said he even volunteered to be part of the cast of the indie as he has long been wanting to try doing a movie and experience what it is like to work in a project that is not done by a major studio. Besides, he knows that the roles being offered in indie films are normally edgy and not the usual formulaic kind of roles that one sees in mainstream movies.
He already has the copy of the script which he received on Monday and he is excited to read it and find out what kind of role he’s going to play.
The Kapamilya hunk is inspired with the good feedback he is getting for his performance in the drama series “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan†where his role as Gabby Concepcion’s son is really challenging. “With the good feedback that am getting in my roles on TV, I believe it’s time that I raise my standard in another level by agreeing to do an indie film where I would be challenged by my role,†said Jake at the farewell presscon of “Kahit Puso’y Masugatan†which is ending in two weeks after having been on air for seven months of good ratings and commendable performances from its stars which also include Iza Calzado, Andi Eigenmann, Jaclyn Jose and DJ Durano under the direction of box-office director Wenn Deramas.
Jake is happy with the opportunity given him by ABS-CBN to be part of the cast of Kahit Puso’y Masugatan. “I learned a lot from my co-stars even as I enjoyed working with all of them. We are one big family during the seven months that we were taping. And I am also looking forward in having the opportunity to work with direk Wenn Deramas in a movie. After all, he’s the box-office director and owns the distinction of having directed the record-breaking movie Sisterakas which is the highest-grossing Pinoy film of all time,†added Jake.
