Edgar Allan Guzman thanks Cathy Garcia-Molina for his role in "Unofficially Yours"

Edgar Allan Guzman is very excited to be working with John Lloyd Cruz, Angel Locsin and box-office director Cathy Garcia-Molina in the movie "Unofficially Yours," the latest offering from Star Cinema.

Direk Cathy was impressed when she watched Edgar Allan’s award-winning movie "Ligo na U, Lapit na Me" at the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival at CCP last year (for which Edgar won the best actor trophy). "It was the first time I heard Direk Cathy saying that and I was really flattered," said Edgar at the presscon of Unofficially Yours held recently.

"It feels good. Ang sarap pakinggan at nakakataba ng puso. I am very thankful to direk Cathy because I didn’t expect mapapansin niya ang talent ko sa pag-arte. She even got me to work with her in an episode of MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya with Kim Chiu) and I told her, ‘Direk, sa uulitin.’ She told me na kukunin niya ako ulit tapos ito nga isinama nga ako sa movie na ito."

"I feel proud because Direk Cathy took notice of my acting ability. I hope this is not the last time that I’d be working with her. I hope that we’d do more projects together."

He’s under contract with Regal Entertainment but Edgar and his manager Noel Ferrer asked permission from Lily Monteverde so he would be allowed to accept this project with Star Cinema. Edgar says he wouldn’t want to miss the chance of working with John Lloyd who is his idol in acting among others.

"Idol ko talaga si John Lloyd. When we had a dramatic scene, naramdaman ko talaga siya. Ang galing talaga. Nakakakuha rin ako sa kanya ng tips pagdating sa tamang pagbitaw ng linya, pag-motivate sa mga scenes kasi I play his best friend and barkada in the movie," says the Cinemalaya best actor awardee for Ligo na U, Lapit na Me.

What can you say about working with Angel? "Ang galing din niya. Kahit na she’s more of a dramatic actress, she can also do comedy. I really admire her. When she was in GMA 7 when she did Darna, I already had a crush on her. She’s beautiful and very sexy," he added.

Edgar says he has patched up his differences with his manager Noel Ferrer with whom he nearly had a falling out last year. "I have a great respect for my manager. I am now more focused with my career as my manager advised me to do so. I haven’t broken up with my girlfriend Johlan (Veluz, a member of the Sexbomb Girls) but I am focused with my career, " he said.

"May pinagdadaanan akong proseso para maayos ang buhay ko at naintindihan naman po iyan ni Sir Noel. Huwag na lang po natin pag-usapan ang bagay na iyan kasi ayoko rin po makasakit ng damdamin ng mga tao kung puro salita lang ako. Gagawin ko na lang po kung ano ang dapat kong gawin para patunayan ko na kaya kong ayusin ang buhay ko. The good news I have for you is that I have gone back to my family. Hindi naman ako pasaway. Mayroon lang pong konting misunderstanding," he said.

To celebrate its first anniversary this coming February 19, Laser Rock Cinema Production is launching its new project entitled "You Where There," a love triangle-family-drama romance featuring newcomers Robin Planilla, Carlos Estrella and Noraine Escueta.

Robin Planilla plays Lorenzo Garcia who dreams of becoming a successful businessman as he is the breadwinner of their family. He falls for Noraine Escueta who plays Tricia Velasco, the daughter of a rich tycoon.. Carlos Estrella plays Joshua Garcia, the younger brother of Lorenzo who also falls secretly in love with his older brother’s fiancée. They have a rivalry not for Tricia’s heart but also for their mother’s love. Joshua falls for Tricia when his brother left for the province in search for a better life.

"This is a different movie from what I did before because this is not tragic like my past movies (Ngayon Bukas Kahapon and All I Need Is You)," said Director Yen Olga Ogad. The movie will be launched at SM Cinema Sta. Rosa on Feb. 19.
