CEBU, Philippines - Most beauty pageants put premium on outward appearance and we see some beauty queens give values less significance. But Airene Michel Somosot goes deeper than physical appearance. This young hopeful who dreams to be one of the Miss Earth beauties in the future also believes in beauty and responsibility. Saving Mother Earth in
a swimsuit?
Why not?
Beauty Queens represent the strength and wisdom of women. They are strong and beautiful women who are not afraid to celebrate femininity with pride and womanhood with so much elegance. We salute Airene and other women like her who understand the immediate need to relive the natural beauty of mother earth. For sure, Airene is fierce to address this meaningful advocacy if she continues to believe in herself.
“The qualities I have that would help me bring success in my life are my being friendly, positive outlook in life, strong will and dedication, and above all, my being open minded,” Airene said.
Airene is currently a BS Information Management major in Airline Operation student in Philippine State College of Aeronautics in Mactan. She dreams to work in an Airline industry after she finishes her studies. Her greatest dream is to travel within the Philippines and eventually tour around the world. If opportunities come, Airene will never waste her time to discover the wonders of the world.
Airene shared that she never had the chance to visit the summer capital of the Philippines. And Baguio City would be the first place she will explore. She also likes to play guitar, surf the net and watch horror, sci-fi, and suspense movies.
Although Airene admitted that she does not have true friends yet, she explained that she would be waiting willingly because she believes that true friends come in the right time, too. A true friend, according to her, is someone who is always there for you despite your differences in life.
This 19-year-old is also a good example to the students and youth. She said that at her young age, she has organized tree planting activities and clean-up drive in her barangay. She elucidated further that she learned a lot from these past activities and hopes to continue her advocacy to save nature.
“Nature is essential to our survival. We should take good care of it. Let us all show our love to Mother Earth by educating people about proper waste management, reforestation, and the like because these days it seems that Mother Earth is mad at us and it’s our fault,” Airene disclosed. (FREEMAN)
