Laguna Board Member Angelica Jones Alarva finally broke her silence regarding the issue involving her, actor turned social entrepreneur Illac Diaz and the bottle school project in Laguna. In a hastily called presscon held Wednesday, March 16, in Quezon City, Angelica said she is suing Illac for grave oral defamation for maligning her good name in front of her constituents.
Angelica met with the media after a long silence and said she had to gather evidences to prove her innocence. She refuted the contents of a news item that came out in a tabloid that said that she figured in a hair-pulling incident. Angelica said it is bad for her image to be pictured as a trouble maker via the news item that is bereft of truth.
She said she had witnesses, including two policemen, to belie the said news item. She also claims to have a video which clearly shows who subjected her to a verbal tirade and who accused her of wrongdoing. She said there's no truth to the allegation that there was a hair-pulling incident, which prompted many to react, including some politicians in Laguna.
"Sobra akong nasaktan sa ginawang paninira sa pangalan ko, lalo na't ako ay Board Member ng Laguna. Hindi ako gagawa ng isang bagay para sirain ang pangalan ko kaya naman balak kong mag-file ng libel at grave oral defamation laban kay Illac Diaz," said the embattled neophyte politician.
She said the alleged confrontation between her and Illac was captured on video.
She said it was Illac who approached her and told her that he needs to find a place for the bottle school project since he encountered a problem with the Taguig municipality for which he is supposed to build it. Since it is going to be the first bottle school in Asia, Angelica offered to look for a place in Laguna because she thought this would be a good project for her constituents in Laguna. But even if she was able to secure land for the bottle school, she said that Illac treated her like the common tao, as he would ask her to run errands and even would shout at her. But she said she believes in the beauty of the project that she said she endured all the verbal abuse from the former actor and executive director of My Shelter Foundation.
Angelica also said that she didn't steal money that was intended for the bottle school project, as alleged by Illac. She has documents to prove that the Laguna government has yet to release funding for it. She said she shelled out her own money to finance the bottle school because Illac is not releasing money to her even if he (Illac) was supposed to have gotten sponsorship money for the project.
She said she is clueless as to the exact amount given by the sponsors since Illac had only given P600,000 to finance the project when he is supposed to give the amount of P1.2 million.
Angelica accused Illac for being a liar and that all that he said were meant to tarnish her reputation as a Board Member of Laguna. She said that if Illac would not retract his statements, she will definitely sue him.
