CEBU, Philippines - They had their first concert together here in Cebu City in the late 80’s dubbed as “Martin and Pops.” While the two has gone on separate ways in real life, they continue to maintain such a following here in Cebu that has long been hankering for their concert reunion to happen. This reunion concert, which was first staged in Manila last February 2009, is going to be different from their previous Cebu show because their multi-talented children, Robin and Ram, will also have their turn at the spotlight and perform alongside their parents.
“There will be lots of surprises in our concert when we’ll be on stage performing together and we’re also excited to sing along with our sons in our concert once again here in Cebu,” Pops said during the press conference yesterday at Pino restaurant in Lahug, Cebu City.
“We always love to perform concerts here in Cebu because Cebuanos are very knowledgeable in any genre of music since the early 80’s. This place is the best training ground for aspiring singers, because if you could survive here in Cebu then you could also excel internationally. And I’m proud to say that we were able to make it here,” Martin said.
Martin and Pops are inviting the Cebuanos to once again watch their concert and promise that the hopeless romantics and the critics alike will be thoroughly entertained with a repertoire boasting of numbers close to Cebuanos’ hearts. Young singer Chadlyn Lacdo-o, Operation Smile – Cebu ambassadress, will be guest performer.
