Star Cinema's Villa Estrella takes you to place of horrors
CEBU, Philippines – Known for his horror films, director Rico Ilarde brings the dead to life in his new film “Villa Estrella” under Star Cinema.
At Villa Estrella, four people, who are brought together by fate and love, embarks on journey, which leads them to a place where hungry souls lay in waiting to take over their lives.
Shaina Magdayao is Anna, an advertising storyboard artist who tries to escape from the life she has with her drunkard father (Eddie) and her violent ex-boyfriend (Alex). Maja Salvador is Andrea, the daughter of Villa Estrella’s caretaker (Mang Gusting) who took care of Ana and Alex when they were young. Andrea will do everything just to be with her father again.
Jake Cuenca is Alex, the ex-boyfriend of Ana. He is desperate to win back Ana, the only woman he has ever loved. Alex mirrors his father (Dave) who doesn’t accept failure and will do anything just to get what he wants. Geoff Eigenmann is Dennis, the current boyfriend of Ana, who wants nothing else but to take care of her.
John Estrada is the father of Ana, who becomes violent everytime he is drunk. Eddie drinks to forget. John Arcilla is Dave, the best friend of Eddie. He supports Eddie financially ever since the former became a drunkard.
Ronnie Lazaro is Mang Gusting, the caretaker of Villa Estrella, who wants nothing else but to see his daughter again. Celine Lim is Jennifer, the youngest daughter of another caretaker of the resort, Suzy, played by Rubi Rubi. She has an imaginary friend (Danica).
This latest film from Star Cinema will show that every place has its secrets, and secrets have a way of coming out into the open.
“Villa Estrella” opens in theaters nationwide on July 1, 2009.
