"Joseph the Dreamer" returns to Cebu
CEBU, Philippines – Joseph the Dreamer, celebrates its 20th anniversary by returning to Cebu where it was first staged.
Not many people know that the very much loved musical premiered at the St. Theresa’s College Auditorium in Cebu amid the coup d’ etat in 1989.
Two years later, “Joseph the Dreamer” finally opened in Manila at the Meralco Theater, which prompted the show’s phenomenal run of more than 100 performances. From simple black and white costumes and sets in the original run, the play has evolved into a spectacle of colorful costumes, stunning sets, and engrossing musical arrangements by Mon Faustino.
The show celebrated its 10th anniversary with a casting coup that had Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, sharing the charismatic character of Joseph with Audie Germora.
Joseph’s timeless story of faith and hope has been the inspiration for Christian Theater group Trumpets to stage Joseph the Dreamer again and again for the past 20 years.
The special 20th Anniversary Road Tour, headlined by Franco Laurel, kicks off in Cebu on July 4 with performances scheduled in the Visayas and Mindanao thereafter.
The Cebu show will be on July 4 at the CICC with Gold tickets at P1000 Front section Reserved seats, Silver at P600 Middle section Free seating and Bronze at P500 Back section free seating.
