The float bearing KC Concepcion and Richard Gutierrez, which joined the grand parade of Cebu’s Sinulog festival last Sunday, was a big hit with the Cebuano crowd.
The presence of KC and Richard created a commotion among the close to a million people who joined this year’s Sinulog festival. The crowd obviously enjoyed the presence of the lead stars of “When I Met You,” which is a joint venture of GMA Films and Regal Entertainment.
The filming of the KC and Richard starrer “When I Met You” is going full blast until January 25 to be able to meet its February 11 playdate. The lead actors are set to have their big presscon on February 9, with the movie set to premiere on Feb. 10. When the movie opens on Feb. 11, Richard and KC will be in Cebu to have a theater tour.
On February 12, they will have a theater tour in Metro Manila to promote the film directed by Joel Lamangan.
The teaser video of “When I Met You,” which was shown last Sunday at SOP, sent a lot of fans, including Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion fanatics, into a frenzy. The Sharon-Gabby fans were tickled pink with the scene showing KC and Chard riding in tandem in a motorcycle. Sharon-Gabby diehards said they can identify with the scene because it reminded them of a similar scene in one of the movies of Sharon and Gabby.
These Sharon-Gabby diehards also said they will support “When I Met you” since it features the daughter of their idols. But of course, these fans are also wishing that Sharon and Gabby would finally do a movie together. After all, Gabby had been vocal of his desire to do a film with his former wife.

The six eliminated “participantes” of Pinoy Fear Factor, hosted by Ryan Agoncillo, were finally presented to the press last week.
It seemed that all of these “participantes” (except for Phoemela Barranda who is already in showbiz) are eyeing a stint in the entertainment world. They share the same dream of giving showbiz a try if given the chance.
This was voiced out by Doc Elmer, the veterinarian, during the presscon for the Pinoy Fear Factor participantes who were booted out of the contest. Doc Elmer said if he’d be given the opportunity to give showbiz a try, he would really want to be in it.
“If there would be an offer, I’d surely grab it. It’s just a matter of managing my time if such opportunity would come my way,” said Doc Elmer who went back to his veterinary clinic to tend to his clients after he was sent home from Argentina.
Doc Elmer also said that he really wanted to show his talent in singing and acting. He related that he had once joined the long lines of people wanting to audition for Pinoy Dream Academy. He relented at the last minute, though, after assessing the quality of those who were in line. “They were all young and I don’t believe I belong to their group. Parang nailang ako,” he said.
When he joined Pinoy Fear Factor, Doc Elmer saw they were also a lot of youngsters auditioning. But he decided to go for it. He had been regular viewer of the original show “Fear Factor” and felt that he was up to the challenge. But he didn’t reckon the challenges would be that difficult.
He joined Pinoy Fear Factor for the experience and the chance to win the P2 million prize money and the house and lot that goes with it. Besides, Doc Elmer wanted to prove that veterinarians are not boring individuals and are brave enough to face the challenges and stunts, no matter how tough they were.
However, he considers his being a doctor as somewhat of a disadvantage because he was able to study how dirty are some of the insects and creatures they were made to eat as part of the challenges in Pinoy Fear Factor.
“Imagine the Argentinian staff telling us that cockroaches are good sources of protein,” said Doc Elmer who couldn’t believe what he heard. He had wanted to hit him for telling a lie on cockroaches being clean and edible, and a good source of protein yet. Whew.
He said he was so ashamed when he saw himself on TV struggling to carry out the challenge with the cockroaches.

On April 29, 2008, the entire Filipino nation scored a major triumph when Congress passed the Universally Accessible, Cheaper and Quality Medicines Act of 2008. It became finally after it was signed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in June 6, 2008.
But according to Sen. Mar Roxas, the fight is not yet over. Each one of us should make sure that every provision of the law is being followed properly. Coming out now on TV and radio is the ad of Sen. Roxas invoking the people to make sure that the Cheaper Medicines Act would be implemented and followed to the letter.
“Many of our countrymen, especially those who are poor, don’t have an access of cheap medicines because even if the Cheaper Medicines Act had been passed, it has not been fully implemented because cheap medicines are not available in big drugstore chains. Since cheap medicines are only available at Botika ng Bayan, it is our hope that Botika ng Bayan will grow in number,” said the good senator.
The Cheaper Medicines Act is close to the heart of Sen. Roxas. It took him several years of lobbying with the different big pharmaceutical companies so there would be a law that would provide low cost medication to more Filipinos.
“I’ve been fighting for this for the last ten years. And during that time, a lot of pharmaceutical companies tried to make us back out in pushing for this bill. We didn’t balk because we really want to be able to offer cheaper-priced but effective medicines. We really want to bring down the cost of medicine,” he said.
