The Terraces’ dance party Cebuanos probably remember Billy Crawford from his “That’s Entertainment” days, aside from his recent hosting of Pinoy Dream Academy’s second season. “That’s” was, after all, where he got really discovered.
“When I was four, I watched ‘That’s’ in the old GMA 7 studio along Edsa. Niño Muhlach pulled me out of the crowd. Natuwa siguro siya. Kuya Germs was surprised that there was a kid onstage. He asked if I could sing. I belted out “Born in the USA”—a lie because I was born here,” said Crawford in a newspaper interview.
Now, after 22 years in the entertainment industry, and with international acclaim on his growing list of achievements, he is still discovering new things to excel in.
Find out his story, through intimate picture slide shows, personal anecdotes, jaw-dropping dance moves and forceful musical performances with two world-class thespians, Joanna Ampil and Rowena Vilar, at the launching of The Terraces Ayala Center Cebu.
The “Music and Movement,” dubbed as a high-energy dance party concert to be held at The Terraces’ iconic Outdoor Activity Court, will certainly wow the audience this coming October 30, 2008.
Among Crawford’s many credentials as a musician and dancer are: a certified platinum debut single “Trackin’” which catapulted to the top of the French sales and club charts, gaining him recognition in Holland, Belgium, Switzerland in Germany; and another certified platinum sophomore album “Ride.”
He was nominated for the 2002 NRJ Music Awards for “Best Newcomer of the Year” in Cannes, and was awarded International Male Artist of the Year in the same awarding ceremony in 2003, beating out Will Smith, Eminem and Robbie Williams.
His latest album “Big City” was produced by the top producers in the industry, such as Kovas (Ghettobeat Production), J Que (from “The Clutch”), and Desmond Child, among others.
Apart from his burgeoning musical career, he also tried his hand at acting in the movie “Dominion, The Prequel To The Exorsist”, which was directed by Paul Shrader. Apart from his Pinoy Dream Academy stint this year, he also hosted his own reality dance competition called “Move: The Search for Billy Crawford’s Pinoy Dancers.”
Catch him live this October 30 at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu. For details on how to get an entry pass, call 232-0380.
