SM City Bacolod gives you more reasons to smile this MassKara season, the annual major tourism event of Bacolod City, with its line-up of exciting events, beginning with its MassKara Festival Mardi Gras and Food Festival 2008 from Oct.17-19 from 6pm onwards at the North 3 Carpark.
October 17 is Pop Rock night, which promises a high-energy night featuring top local bands—Aire, the most in-demand campus band; Roadhouse with powerhouse lead vocalists Michelle Gallaga (formerly DV8) and Paul Montenegro; and Salamander, an award-winning OPM rock band. Manila band and crowd favorite, Callalily, will also perform.
October 18 gets hotter with Latino night, which features highly percussive, dance to powerhouse rhythms by Chakra, Sigaboom 2007 Tribal Drumbeating Competition and La Carlota’s Pasalamat Festival Champion—Tribu Dos Drumbeaters; and the 2005 Global Battle of the Bands Visayas champion and Bacolod’s pride, Grupo Mari Teves band.
October 19 brings on the captivating beats with Sigaboom 2008—the World Beat Challenge Drumbeating Competition. With this year’s “World Beat Challenge” theme, drumbeaters from the island will vie for the P25,000 top prize. Back from Spain, DJ Elmer Dado (also one of the competition’s judges), and Gruppo Tribale also promise an unforgettable evening of great music and fun. A spectacular fireworks display by Pyro Magic 2007 champion, Peacock Fireworks, will once again cap the last night of the festivities.
Stars will also come out for the MassKara Festival as the Kapamilya and Kapuso networks fly in their artists for SM mall shows.
ABS-CBN gives a delightful treat as they bring over celebrity dancing duo Maja Salvador and John Prats for an electrifying, energy-packed Kapamilya variety show this October 17, Friday, from 3pm onwards at the North 3 Carpark.
On October 18 at 2:30pm, after their celebrity basketball match, hunks Jason Abalos, Marco Alcaraz, Joross Gamboa, Bruce Quebral, Joseph Bitangcol, Paolo Paraiso and many more will hold a meet and greet with fans and render a few song numbers for the mallgoers.
While on October 19 at 2pm onwards, GMA 7 will hold its Kapuso mall show at the Event Centre, bringing in Sunshine Dizon, Angelika dela Cruz and JC de Vera.
