Yanson Group reaffirms support to public transpo

CEBU, Philippines — The Yanson Group of Bus Companies (YGBC) has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting the Philippine government’s initiatives in enhancing public transportation, facilitating greater mobility for work and leisure, and improving inland transport access nationwide.

As the operator of a vast bus transport network, including the well-known Ceres Bus in Cebu, YGBC emphasized its commitment to expanding inter-provincial mobility.

“Mobility directly translates into increased demand for public transport. The Yanson Group remains steadfast in providing safe, dependable, and affordable transportation solutions,” said Olivia V. Yanson, YGBC co-founder.

Alongside Ceres Transport Inc., YGBC also operates Goldstar Bus Transit, Inc. (GBTI), which recently held its re-election of officers to strengthen its transport business and further contribute to improving land transport accessibility across Philippine provinces and cities.

Newly re-elected members of the GBTI board include Olivia Yanson, Leo Rey Yanson, Ginnette Y. Dumancas, lawyer Collin Derk Y. Isidto, Hernan B. Omecillo, and Danny O. Lorenton.

During the organizational meeting, Leo Rey Yanson was re-appointed as chairman and president, while Olivia Yanson was reappointed as treasurer and corporate secretary.

Meanwhile, Ceres Transport Inc. (CTI), another YGBC subsidiary, conducted a separate stockholders’ meeting, with the re-election of its board members, including Olivia Yanson, Leo Rey Yanson, Ginnette Y. Dumancas, Charles M. Dumancas, Rey C. Ardo, Daniel Nicolas P. Golez, Arvin John Villaruel, Anita G. Chua, Joseph Ellery Villanueva, Hernan B. Omecillo, and Alfredo O. Ligo. Leo Rey Yanson was also reappointed as chairman and president, with Olivia Yanson continuing as treasurer and corporate secretary.

YGBC, the largest bus conglomerate in the Philippines, was founded in 1968 and currently operates an extensive fleet across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. The company employs over 18,000 workers and manages multiple subsidiaries, including Ceres Liner Travel and Tours Inc., Ceres Transport Inc., Mindanao Star Bus Transport Inc., Bachelor Express Inc., Southern Star Bus Transport Inc., Goldstar Bus Transit Inc., and Rural Transit (Mindanao) Inc.

Industry projections indicate strong growth for public transportation in the Philippines. According to Statista, the sector is expected to generate US$0.83 billion in revenue in 2024, with an annual growth rate of 3.80 percent, reaching US$1 billion by 2029.

The number of public transport users is also projected to climb to 86.11 million by 2029, highlighting the crucial role of key transport providers like YGBC in meeting the increasing demand for reliable and efficient mobility solutions. — (FREEMAN)
