MCCI delegation to CIIE put on hold

CEBU, Philippines — The Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) is putting on hold its plan to send a delegation to the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai, China this coming November.

“We planned to send a delegation for the China International Import Expo, but it is currently put on hold,” said MCCI president Stanley Go.

According to Go the Philippine government, through the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), still has to iron out some glitches with the CIIE delegation.

The CIIE is a 6-day event being held from 5th November to 10th November 2018 at the National Convention & Exhibition Center in Shanghai, China. This event gathers government officials, business communities, exhibitors and professional purchasers across the world and provides them new channels for countries and regions to do business, strengthen cooperation and promote common prosperity of the world economy and trade.

Go said earlier that the chamber is actively looking at China as potential site for outbound trade missions because of heightened interest of Chinese investors to enter partnership deals in the Philippines.

Local businesses are also interested to penetrate the Chinese market.

MCCI already made initial works in sending a delegation to be part of the over 100 Philippine products the Department of Trade and Industry plans to showcase during this trade event, slated on November 5-10, 2018.

With its growing 1.42 billion population, China has become a point of interest among local businesses for market expansion.

Likewise, Chinese investors are looking at the Philippines, including Cebu as viable market for their products and good expansion hub for their businesses.
