Retail firm, bank host shopping spree for co-brand cardholders

CEBU, Philippines - One way to attract the potential spending of customers is to offer discounts and something that would give them rewards when buying.

This is according to Ma. Melanie Tumampos, senior product manager of BDO Bench MasterCard, saying credit card owners who are also mostly brand shoppers would appreciate any discounts to keep spending in check.

Retail firm Bench and BDO Unibank, Inc. have partnered to offer a co-brand credit card which shoppers can use to gain points when buying items at international brands--Bench is one--under the Suyen Corporation.

"This is one way also to show our appreciation to the loyalty of our cardholders," Tumampos told The FREEMAN.

The manager said the "Bench MasterCard" is not solely intended for brand shoppers but everyday spenders can also take advantage of the different retail shopping experience.

Tumamposof the BDO Consumer Lending Group shared the card offers all the extensive features of the BDO credit card such as the ability of the cardholders to earn points for every P200 purchase at the retail shop, special access to events and shows of the company and others.

She also added that this kind of business tactic seems to be new in the market and they hope to introduce it to a wide variety of consumers and strengthen links with global brands.

"It actually affects also the potential spending of the customers because whenever there is store opening they have the card, it invites them," she further said.

Recently, the bank, Suyen Corp. and MasterCard Philippines celebrated the second year the Bench MasterCard by hosting a shopping spree. (FREEMAN)
