Hukad restaurant opens in Parkmall
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu-based restaurant chain Hukad sa Golden Cowrie continues to enjoy the robust market posed by the local dine out industry, adding another restaurant here only six weeks from its last expansion.
Hukad Parkmall recently opened to become the Cebuano chain's second outlet in Mandaue City after Golden Cowrie was launched in AS Fortuna St. last August.
Hukad in Parkmall is the 7th Hukad/Golden Cowrie restaurant in Cebu which is run by Cebu Golden Restaurants, Inc. It is the 16th branch nationwide.
This newest outlet can accommodate a maximum of 120 customers and features a function room that can hold up to 18 people.
With lots of job opportunities sprouting in the bustling city, Cebu is becoming a bigger market of food enthusiasts, according to Kristine Kokseng.
Kokseng said 2013 is their most aggressive year thus far in terms of expansion, with a total of six outlets launched this year across different parts of the country.
At present, a total of seven branches are being operated in Cebu, and Kokseng said this number is yet optimal for them.
However, with the opening of SM Seaside City at the South Road Properties in about two years, the Filipino taste-inspired restaurant eyes to open two new outlets in the area.
Kokseng said all their branches outside Cebu are franchised at a fee of P1 million, exclusive of VAT. The fee covers the use of the brand, as well as the provision of training materials and site visits.
What is unique about Hukad/Golden Cowrie, Kokseng added, is they come up with new dishes every quarter.
Their newest offers are tofu sisig and squid sisig, which she said, are best for health conscious customers. They are currently pegged at P169 and P198, respectively.
The restaurant chain will also be introducing for the first time its brown rice puso.
Among their branches in Cebu include the Salinas Drive, SM City Cebu, Marina Mall in Mactan, Robinson's Cybergate, Ayala Center Cebu, AS Fortuna and the Parkmall branch. (FREEMAN)
