Forum on risk-based lending slated this week

CEBU, Philippines - For micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to have increased access to credit, the Institute for Small-Scale Industries of the University of the Philippines (UP-ISSI) will conduct a forum on risk-based lending this Thursday.

Dubbed as “Investing in SMEs”, the forum will be held at the Santorini Ballroom of The Hotel Elizabeth Cebu, Archbishop Reyes Avenue, Camputhaw, Cebu City on August 23, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

It aims to increase the appreciation of financial institutions on the benefits of risk-based lending by encouraging the practice of this new approach to lending.

Organized by the country’s pioneer and innovator in entrepreneurship promotion and enterprise development, UP –ISSI also partnered with other organizations such as the Industrial Guarantee and Loan Fund, the Development Bank of the Philippines and the Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation.

Speakers that include financial institution leaders like the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, the Small Business Corporation of the Philippines, Valiant Bank, Taytay sa Kauswagan, First Consolidated Bank, selected universal, commercial, rural banks and micro-finance institutions will share their experiences in non-collateralized lending.

The forum further encompasses topics that tackle on access to finance, credit risk management, trends in SME lending, and best practices in risk-based lending.

Expecting a total of 100 attendees as audience, financial institutions that provide non-collateralized credit to MSMEs are encouraged to participate in the forum.  (FREEMAN)
