WorldBex trade show expects 50,000 attendees

CEBU, Philippines -  Over 200 exhibitors are now taking part in the WorldBex Services International’s trio-trade show at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC), taking advantage of the vibrant economic landscape in the Queen City of the South-Cebu.

Companies offering latest technology, innovations, and products from the Philippines, as well as from other countries like China, Taiwan and Singapore, are now taking their chances to attract a huge market from Cebu, and other parts of the Southern Philippines.

WorldBex marketing director Jon Richmond Ang said the four-day exhibition which officially opened last May 26, expects to draw at least 50 thousand people.

In 2009, when WorldBex held a similar event here, the exhibition attracted a total of 38 thousand people. This time, as the economy is recovering, he expects more and more people to get interested in finding out what is new, as well as explore opportunities, and possible business linkages.

A total of 50 car models are now being showcased at the Cebu Auto Show component, while 80 booths are fully occupied in the Cebu Foods and Beverage Exposition or CefBEX, and 120 booths for the Philippine Building and construction Exposition or PhilBex.

WorldBex posted a 20 percent increase of exhibitor volume this year, compared to 2009, Ang said.

In 2010, WorldBex failed to hold the same exhibition in Cebu, due to unavailability of venue.

On its 8th year, PhilBex 2011 is bringing in the newest trade innovations and industry developments with a comprehensive line-up of products and services in the construction industry.

Event highlights this year include free seminars and two major gallery exhibits featuring some of the country’s best architects and their designs.

Likewise, set to take the lead of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Cebu Auto Show 2011 shines the spotlight on motoring fleets and breakthroughs with the theme “Automotive Evolution.”

Advancements made in car technology, fuel efficiency and performance among others, dominate the show, including exciting glimpse of the cars in the future.

Meanwhile, the only food and beverage show of its kind, the CEFBEX addresses the ever-increasing demands of the food service and hospitality industries in the region.

Suppliers, distributors, manufacturers, retailers, importers, exporters, and consultants come together to promote a diverse range of food products, beverages and related technologies from around the world—under one venue.

Ang expressed confidence on the exhibition market in Cebu, saying the company is even planning to hold more big exhibitions here.

Also, he said that WorldBex, will also expand its event coverage not only limited to the Philippines, but also abroad.

He said WorldBex will be bringing Filipino companies to promote their products and services abroad via an international exhibition to be organized by the company in the next two to three years.

WorldBex Services International (WSI) established the trend in the Philippines’ exposition industry, bringing to fore the latest innovations in the world of expositions. (FREEMAN)
