It seems that many local government units continue to think only of a very few people rather than the good of the general public with their blatant disregard of the rights of the other road users.
Last week, we noticed a tent that covered more than one lane of the road that you take from the reclamation area before you turn right to the road leading to the Mandaue-Mactan Bridge.
The reason why the tent was there was that there was a wake.
Last Saturday, we received a text message from a reader complaining about the closure of entire north-bound lane of the Mambaling access road because of a chapel that was holding an activity.
The reader asked how come the CITOM allowed such.
We, however, know for a fact that many times the roads are closed without CITOM’s knowledge. We had called up the CITOM many times in the past about such complaints and in most cases there was no prior notice given to the traffic body.
The local officials that allow these road closures are obviously thinking only of the votes that they would get from the people and not the welfare of the general public.
It might be a good idea to start filing charges against these officials.

A reader said that he noticed that the towing operations have resumed in Cebu City, but these are done in areas where they should not be the priority.
“Ngano anha man sila sa dili angay nga lugar mang towing? Kung tinud-anay na sila, unahon nila kanang mga huot nga lugar sama sa Lorega. Hadlok tingali na sila mao na selective ang enforcement sa balaod,” he told us.
We share the sentiment of the reader, who asked not to be identified. Obviously there are many places around the city where the flow of traffic is blocked by illegally parked vehicles.
Maybe the CITOM officials should go around the city to see these places for themselves.

It’s not all negative comments here.
We have this email from Jesson Morata commending the city government:
I would like to commend the city government of Cebu for a job well done in replacing the sodium lights in the major thoroughfares of Cebu City. Maybe our readers have noticed that major thoroughfares like the Osmeña Blvd., Juan Luna Avenue and the Sergio Osmeña Avenue are so luminous at night because the sodium lights were replaced with the much better ones, which emit white glow which I believe makes our streets safer for motorist as well as pedestrians. It is a good deterrent of petty crimes too.
