Capitalist pours investments to push more events in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines – The potential of Cebu to become the entertainment hub in the Southern Philippines, prompted capitalist Partrick Ty to pour in multi-million investments to further strengthen the entertainment industry in the City.

While Cebu is known for its annual "Sinulog" festival, creating year-round events is deemed necessary to sustain the robust tourism arrival during the month of January.

"Sinulog is only our biggest event. After that only few productions are happening in Cebu. Our company wants to make sure that Cebu will have events all year round," said Ty, president of the Titan Entertainment Productions Inc.

Ty said that Cebu needs to host more events to entice domestic and international tourists not only for a big single festivity event, like Sinulog, but it has to have a year-round entertainment or events to lure tourists.

Composed of a creative team of events and production experts, Titan was formed last September with the aim to produce socially-relevant and world-class quality events, performances, and creative productions that would bring a new level of energy to Cebu's entertainment scene.

"We will first focus on producing club events, stage plays, and concerts. We are also looking at digital film production, which we will pursue once we have fully established the company," said Ty.

The company was formally launched recently, and two weeks after the launch, the company will have its first major club production for Cebu dubbed "the Pretenz 3, a Vegas-theme Halloween party.

The event will feature Cebu's top-notch drag queens and dancers in glitzy and glamorous costumes by Cebu's top designers.

For 2011, TITAN has lined up four major concerts featuring big stars and international artists.

Moreover, in line with the thrust to push Cebu in becoming a premiere entertainment destination, the company will also actively produce artistic events featuring local talents outside the country.

"We really have big plans for Cebu," concluded Ty.

On the other hand, tourism stakeholders in Cebu had been urging events organizers here to partner with the tour operators and tourism sellers in Cebu in order to include big entertainment events to their proposed itinerary for their clients, especially from the other countries.

These events should be planned ahead of time, so that it will be included in the calendar of events in the promotion collaterals that will be distributed to target tourism markets for Cebu, not only abroad, but also in different parts of the Philippines. (FREEMAN)
