Have a safe celebration

Merry Christmas to all our readers!

You know it’s the season when traffic outside the malls and in many other parts of the metropolis starts to crawl at snail pace. The authorities know and expect the influx of shoppers and merry makers, but as usual don’t do much beyond what little they can imagine what their jobs are.

The lines for taxi cabs are also very long. We see that when we go to the malls. Does this mean we have a shortage of taxis or is it because there are just too many people who take the cab these days due to the many plastic bags of stuff they carry out of the malls?

There have also been reports of taxi drivers refusing to take passengers to their destination, but of course, unless a formal complaint is filed with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

So, if you have a complaint about taxi drivers contact the LTFRB and they have promised to act on such.

For those planning to go on a long trip for the Christmas break, make sure you have your vehicles checked by reputable mechanics if not the casa or the dealer of the vehicle before you drive off. This will help ensure that you would really get to your destination and have a merry Christmas.

Those going to parties must also designate a driver, who will have to avoid alcohol while others might drink like fish.

Let’s all have a happy celebration of the holidays, but then let us not also forget that the reason for all of these is the birth of the Child Jesus.

Several readers have complained about the young kids that continue to carol on the streets despite the efforts (or lack thereof) of government to stop them from doing so.

There have been media reports that these kids have been rounded up, but then we still see so many of them at corner Imus and Gen. Maxilom, at corner Escario and Osmeña Blvd., at corner N. Bacalso and V. Rama and also Tres de Abril.

Since it is difficult for authorities to just round these kids up all the time, the best way to address this is not to give money or anything to discourage them from going to the streets.

The traffic situation in barangays Tabunok and Bulacao, Talisay City is bad because of the many vehicles that are not parked along the road, but on the road.

A reader called us up to ask if the officials of Talisay know the situation because nothing seems to have been done about the vehicles, which are supposedly illegally parked.

Well, we’re not really surprised at the lack of effort of the leaders of Talisay.
