CEBU, Philippines - Determined to penetrate the huge market in the Visayas and Mindanao areas, Akari, a Chinese brand of lighting is now starting to strengthen its presence in Cebu through massive marketing campaigns and seminars on green lighting technology.
Banking on the new trend of adopting green technology, Akari distributor Carlson Corporation is now focusing its marketing efforts to penetrate Vis-Min specifically major cities like Cebu and Davao.
In an interview with its marketing manager Benjamin R. Domingo he said that after penetrating the Manila market, they are now starting to strengthen their efforts in positioning the Akari brand here in Cebu, the second biggest city in the country which continues to thrive in construction projects.
He said that they will be using the advocacy on green lighting technology as a platform to market Akari in Cebu.
“In Manila, Akari is already a well-known brand especially on energy saving lamps (ESL) and even lighting switches. We usually do seminars to push for the utilization of ESL against incandescent lamps. ESL can help reduce energy consumption plus it also helps save the environment from the effects of global warming,” said Domingo.
He said that Akari is targeting to capture a diverse segment of the market from developers, engineers, architects to interior designers.
Domingo said that at this point of global crisis, it is all the more essential to strengthen the promotion of green lighting technologies to save and cut on energy costs also especially that the government is pushing for the use of ESL to conserve energy. And to urge more Cebuanos to utilize green lighting technology, Akari will host series of seminars on green lighting technology in the next few months.
Domingo said that even if Akari is still new in the Philippine market, it has already competed head on with popular and established lighting brands in the marketplace and is starting to get a huge following as it provides five years warranty to its client-base.
Right now, Akari is being supplied to big ticket construction projects of high-profile companies in Manila which include hotels, subdivision, condominiums, commercial and office establishments, and among others.
Here in Cebu, Akari has clients which include the Cebu City Marriott Hotel, City Lights Garden condominiums, JY Square, Amisa project of Robinsons Land and the ACT Mall and projects like IMEZ in Mactan and Persimmon of the Aboitiz Group.
Akari is also strengthening its presence in its showrooms nationwide and this year, they are looking at opening a major showroom in Cebu.— Rhia de Pablo
