Digicam trader targets the low-income market

Realizing the huge untapped market from the low-income brackets for digital cameras, a distributor of Taiwanese brands of electronic gadgets and devices is now strengthening its operation in the country to make these products affordable to these consumers.

Quoting a study done by GFK, a marketing research company, Fonetech International’s Sales Director Royce Guerrero announced that digital cameras can now be afforded even by an average consumer with their wide range of products that have the same level of quality with leading brands but with lower pricing schemes.

Guerrero said that GFK’s study concluded that the market for digital cameras has already come to a saturation level wherein, those consumers who have the capacity to own and buy one have already purchased a unit.

Because of its high-value, digital cameras have become one of the luxurious goods that an average consumer cannot afford and will opt not to buy. But with changes in today’s modern lifestyle, gadgets such as these have become a must necessity and no longer just a mere want.

Looking at this prospect, Guerrero said that their company has decided to strengthen their marketing efforts to capture the masses since leading digital camera brands are targeting the higher income brackets

“The consumers from classes C and D for digital cameras are still a very much untapped market and we are eyeing a huge growth potential for development in this market. Our goal now is to make digital products affordable to every Filipinos,” said Guerrero.

The competitive and affordable prices of Fonetech’s products range from P2, 990 for a 5 mega pixels digital camera to P9, 000 for a 10 mega pixel camera including warranty and after sales service, said Guerrero. But he assured that despite their lower rates compared to leading brands, they could ensure their clientele value for their money as they guarantee top quality.

He said that right now, they have started to get a huge portion of the digital camera market playing at the first or second top spot in the country and number one in Mindanao and number two for areas in the Visayas such as Cebu capturing first time users and those who are upgrading their film cameras to digital.
