GCASH American Express Virtual Pay cited

MANILA, Philippines - The GCASH American Express Virtual Pay, a pioneering innovation from GCASH, the mobile money service of Globe Telecom, was proclaimed winner of the prestigious Gold Stevie Award in the Annual International Business Awards.

Besting entries from PR One in Korea, Finansbank and Isbank in Turkey, and RSA Insurance in Canada, GCASH American Express Virtual Pay became the biggest winner for the Marketing Campaign of the Year-New Product or Service category, a new category for 2013.

The GCASH American Express Virtual Pay is a virtual card linked to a user’s GCASH wallet that allows a secure way of shopping from online retail sites that accept American Express as mode of payment.

It enables users to buy apps or shop conveniently online from both local and international app stores and sites. It also gives them a personalized US address to allow delivery of purchases right to their doorsteps.

The GCASH American Express Virtual Pay also boasts of low shipping charges, accessibility of account information on the mobile phone, and a convenient cash-in process from the subscriber’s bank account or through any of over 7,000 GCASH outlets nationwide.

The success of the product has seen subscriber base growing by over 200 percent from October 2012 to April this year. It also drove a 180 percent increase in the subscriber’s average daily transaction count and generated 100 percent positive feedback on social networking sites.

“We are elated to be recognized as one of the world’s best when it comes to product and service innovation,” said Paolo Baltao, president of G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), the operator of GCASH and a wholly owned subsidiary of Globe.

“We developed the GCASH American Express Virtual Pay to respond to the growing customer preference for online shopping and e-commerce, and ensured that the product will guarantee ease of access, security and convenience. Our subscribers can definitely look forward to more innovative offers from GCASH in the months ahead,” Baltao added.

Aside from GCASH American Express Virtual Pay, Globe also bagged a Gold Stevie for the Marked for Greatness campaign of broadband brand Tattoo under the Marketing Campaign of the Year-Telecommunications category through Harrison Communications.

Globe also scored a Silver Stevie under the Best Public Relations Event category for Tatt Awards, Tattoo’s annual social media awards which recognizes individuals and groups who use social media to make positive changes in the society; and a Bronze Stevie for the My Fair Share Program for the Corporate Social Responsibility Program of the Year category in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand. My Fair Share empowers the communities being aided by Globe through livelihood opportunities and market access.

This year’s International Business Awards, or the Stevie Awards, received a total of 3,300 nominations from over 50 countries, and were judged by more than 200 executives around the world. It honors achievements and positive contributions of organizations and individuals worldwide.
