MANILA, Philippines - Samsung’s massive Galaxy Mega handsets have landed in the Philippines and were officially launched last June 7, the same day Samsung Philippines opened its first Experience Store at the second floor of SM Aura Premier in Taguig City.
The Galaxy Mega is a device that combines the portability and convenience of a smartphone with the power, multi-tasking capabilities and extensive viewing experience of a tablet. That means you can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages on top of enjoying the viewing experience a large screen can give.
Available in two variants — 6.3- and 5.8-inch sizes — you can carry the Galaxy Mega like a phone and use it like a tablet. Both models sport 8-megapixel cameras, 1.5GB RAM, a microSD card slot, and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
The Galaxy Mega includes a split screen capability for a variety of applications, including e-mail, messages, MyFiles, S Memo, and S Planner, so you can be more efficient with your time. It also features Air View, which lets you preview information in e-mails, photos in the gallery, as well as speed-dial contacts.
There’s also a variety of camera modes you can play around with, including Drama Shot, where you can merge continuous shots of a moving object, and Sound & Shot, which allows you to capture nine seconds of sound and voice together as the picture is taken to capture moments.
The 6.3-inch model (P23,990) comes with a 720p display, a 1.9MP front-facing camera, LTE connectivity, 8GB or 16GB of storage, and a 1.7GHz dual-core processor.
The 5.8-inch version, meanwhile, has a qHD display, 2MP camera in front, HSPA connectivity, 8GB of storage, and a 1.4GHz dual-core processor. It also comes with two SIM slots. It’s priced at P18,990.
The Samsung Experience Store sells an array of products, including digital cameras, notebooks, smartphones, and tablets. It serves as an avenue for consumers to experience the products and to buy accessories if they already own a Samsung device.
