Nokia kicks off E7 Protégé Project

MANILA, Philippines - Nokia Philippines has launched the Nokia E7 Protégé Project, a unique competition that gives future and aspiring entrepreneurs the opportunity to jumpstart their careers with an exclusive mentorship program under the exceptional guidance of two of the most successful businessmen in the country.

Nokia E7 Protégé Project is a fast-paced business competition for business students that will test the participants’ abilities in formulating strategies, developing innovation and launching successful execution of entrepreneurial plans.

Successful participants can look forward to a mentorship opportunity with John Lu Koa, Founder of The French Baker and Donnie Tantoco, president of Rustan’s Super Centers Inc.

Heating up the momentum of Nokia E7’s business solution challenge, the two businessmen took part in a recent Mentor’s Forum held at the University of the Philippines.

Business students from different universities gathered for this rare opportunity to hear the secrets of Koa and Tantoco.

Koa and Tantoco did not fail expectations because they shared their success stories that truly inspired the future entrepreneurs. The participants were also able to ask them for some words of wisdom on taking the adventurous entrepreneurial path.

“Taking part in the Nokia E7 Protégé Project is also a challenge for us — how we get involved in student-level activities. It is a chance for us to guide, inspire and to apply our standards,” said Koa.

Meanwhile, Tantoco wished the students luck and the best journey of their lives, and left them with some encouraging words of foresight. “I hope our paths will cross more than once,” he said.

The Nokia E7 Protégé Project is open to all fourth year collegiate business course students, who belong to the top 10 percent of their graduating class.

Seven lucky participants who will stand above the rest will experience the unique opportunity to train to become the next great business leader.

From the hundreds of student aspirants, only 14 will be selected based on their overall academic standing, personality and business demeanor and how well they answered the question in the application form. The top 14 applicants will then be divided into two teams, which will be given a business challenge by mentors Koa and Tantoco.

Within two weeks, the teams must put together a business plan to meet the challenge posted by the mentors. Watch how the teams face the challenge head on at www.nokia.com.ph/e7protegeproject.

The winning group will also receive a cash prize of P200,000 tax-free, and Nokia E7 phones with a Smart plan for each member.
