Smart to capitalize on mobile internet usage this holiday season
MANILA, Philippines – In just nine months since the upsurge of smart phones and mobile internet usage began, wireless services provider, Smart Communications Inc., has already reached double revenue growth.
According to Trisha Dizon, head of Smart Prepaid, Postpaid and International Services, out of the 43.2 million Smart subscribers 5% already use smart phones, while half of the 5% access the Internet.
The growth is due mostly to the rising popularity of social networking sites like facebook, which Filipinos are known to be one of the highest users in the world.
“There is a lot of head room for growth, and with the launch of more affordable smart phones in the next couple of months we expect smart phone usage to grow,” says Smart Public Affairs head Mon Isberto.
To further tap the smart phone and mobile internet market, Smart announced today its early Christmas offering dubbed as “Smart Gold Rush: 12 Thrills of Christmas”.
Some of the most sought-after mobile devices include Acer Ferrari, Windows 7’s HTC Mozart, Blackberry Torch 9800 and the 7-inch tablet phone Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Isberto adds, shoppers will get the full experience without having to worry about the bill when they avail Smart Gold, bundled with unlimited data, starting at plan 1,000.
All special postpaid deals will be available at the South Wing of the Rockwell Power Plant Mall in Makati City starting today until Sunday (December 5).
