Smart launches 'Pasa Pera'
MANILA, Philippines - More than 45 million subscribers of Smart Communications Inc. can now directly receive funds on their mobile phones from any Smart Money account.
This is made possible by “Pasa Pera” — the newest mobile-to-mobile cash transfer innovation of Smart Money, the world’s first cash payment facility linked to a mobile phone.
With Pasa Pera, Smart subscribers need not have an existing Smart Money account to receive cash from a Smart Money accountholder.
All Smart users will automatically get a virtual Smart Money account if they still do not have existing accounts.
Funds from virtual Smart Money accounts may be used to reload Smart prepaid airtime.
To enjoy Smart Money’s full features, a Smart Money card is needed. To get one, subscribers simply have to present a valid ID at any Smart Wireless Center.
The new Smart Money cardholder may then enjoy its array of services, such as bills payment, peer-to-peer cash transfers, purchase of goods and services from partner MasterCard establishments worldwide and online, and the ability to withdraw from over 9,000 ATMs in the country and thousands of Cirrus ATMs around the world.
“We are constantly looking for ways to expand and enhance the suite of mobile money options available to our subscribers,” said Orlando Vea, Smart chief wireless advisor.
“PasaPera will provide over 45 million Filipinos with an accessible, relevant and affordable way to send and receive money using one of the most ubiquitous devices today — the mobile phone,” he said.
To initiate a Pasa Pera transaction, go to the Smart Money menu of a Smart phone, and select the TRANSFER option. Enter Card/Mobile Number will be shown. If only Enter Card Number is shown, text TRANSFER MENU to 343 to receive an updated Smart Money menu.
Key in the beneficiary’s 11-digit Smart or Talk ‘N Text mobile number, the amount, and the Wireless Personal Identification Number (W-PIN).
Pasa Pera, the convenient and secure transfer of funds, will commence at the speed of a text message.
Both sender and receiver will also get real-time SMS notifications once funds have been credited to the designated Smart number.
