MANILA, Philippines - As part of its commitment to support sports, Smart Communications Inc. partners with the UST High School Batch ‘88 Alumni Association Inc.’s “The Green Miles Run: Run for an Eco-Smart Lifestyle.”
The run, set tomorrow at the SM Mall of Asia grounds, aims to raise awareness of and alleviate climate change through lifestyle change.
“Smart is one with UST High School Batch ‘88 in its vision of involving more people to live a healthy lifestyle and support running for a greener environment. This advocacy run is a smart move since participants are enjoying as they help our beneficiaries,” said Patrick Gregorio, head of Smart’s sports marketing team.
The Green Miles Run wellness event will also benefit the Marilao River, which was declared in 2007 as one of the 30 most polluted places on earth; the Department of Environment and Natural Resources; and the Hebreo 12:1 Foundation Inc. founded by actor Piolo Pascual.
“UST High School Batch ‘88 is happy to partner with Smart because the company shares the same concern for the environment and passion to support healthy lifestyle through running. With Smart, we are confident that we will achieve our goals and expectations for this run,” said UST HS Batch ‘88 president Lorelei Fajardo.
The event organizers are expecting no less than 3,000 running enthusiasts and environmentalists who will participate in the run.
The Green Miles Run will feature 3-kilometer, 5-kilometer, 10-kilometer, and 15-kilometer foot races.
Running is one of the major sports that Smart is supporting, along with boxing, taekwondo, tennis, and cycling.
