PLDT launches myDSL Biz

MANILA, Philippines - Telecom giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) launched last week a new and improved myDSL service designed for business use, particularly by those from the small and medium enterprise (SME) segment.

The new myDSL Biz was unveiled by PLDT chairman Manuel Pangilinan, PLDT president and CEO Napoleon Nazareno, and PLDT senior vice president for Corporate Business Group Eric Alberto at the NBC Tent in The Fort, Taguig City amid a crowd dressed in Halloween costumes.

The new Internet business solution from PLDT offers subscribers a full connectivity and computing setup in different packages.

The heart of the solution is the new Biz Box, a wireless router that effectively turns an office into a Wi-Fi hot spot.

This Wi-Fi capable DSL modem has four ethernet ports and two USB ports suitable for local area networking.

The pumped-up myDSL Biz also throws in for free Red Fox LCD desktop units or Neo Basic laptop units to set SMEs up for a higher chance of success.

For example, a Small Biz Lite (at 3.5Mbps) subscription for P4,000 is bundled with a desktop, while a Powerpack C (8Mbps) for P50,000 comes with four desktops and a laptop.

The other myDSL Biz packages are the Small Biz Junior for P8,000 at 4.5Mpbs with a laptop, Small Biz Senior for P14,500 at 5Mpbs with a desktop and laptop, the Powerpack A for P20,000 at 6Mbps with two dektops and one laptop, and the Powerpack B for P35,000 at 7Mbps with three desktops and a laptop.

“myDSL has evolved from being a commercial broadband Internet service to also as a broadband business solution that can help SMEs streamline their processes, lower their costs, bring up their revenues and increase their online presence,” said Jerameel Azurin, marketing head for SME Group at PLDT.

Azurin told Telecoms that myDSL currently has about 25,000 subscribers and that they hope to add another 10,000 by next year. He also said existing subscribers will be upgraded to the new service.
