New Cyber-shot phones to spread smiles for Pinoy kids

-

MANILA, Philippines – Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phones offering the Smile Shutter feature are at the forefront of a new fundraising campaign for UNICEF that aims to raise funds for the latter’s educational programs in the Philippines.

Sony Ericsson has invited the public to donate smiles for children in the Philippines, and to capture them with the latest models in its distinguished imaging line of phones.

“Spread the Smiles, in cooperation with SM Supermalls and Digiprint, aims to collect a million smile photos. Each photo will be equivalent to a peso donation to UNICEF. Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot phones with Smile Shutter are perfect for capturing those smiles, storing those smiles and spreading those smiles for others to enjoy,” said Patrick Larraga, Sony Ericsson marketing manager.

The recently launched Sony Ericsson C510 Cyber-shot phone was the first in the Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot line to offer the Smile Shutter feature, which focuses on a subject’s smile before taking the picture.

The C510 features a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus and 3.2x digital zoom, auto rotation to view in landscape and portrait mode, face detection and photo fix.

The C510 also features a unique SMS conversation style for users to view their messaging history at a glance. It is YouTube-enabled and will soon support a “zero-click” mobile access to Facebook, the world’s most popular networking site.

According to TESTFactory, an independent testing laboratory of Motor Presse Stuttgart in Germany, the C510 delivered the “best imaging experience” in the three-megapixel range of camera phones.

A special edition C510 in energetic red is set to be launched as the “Sarah phone” and will feature content from Sony Ericsson Smile Ambassador Sarah Geronimo.

Meanwhile, the Sony Ericsson C905 Cyber-shot phone has given the big picture to camera phone-loving consumers.

This 8.1-megapixel Cyber-shot phone with Xenon flash has been adjudged the best in its class for mobile phone photography by several publications.

The C905 is the first Cyber-shot phone designed as a dual front slider, with a unique sliding lens mechanism. Auto focus with face detection, smart contrast and an image stabilizer ensure high-resolution photos worth sharing.

Photos can be sent wirelessly to the TV via Wi-Fi or connect with the TV-Out Cable ITC-60. The C905 is also GPS-enabled for geo-tagging photos.

Also made for capturing smiles is the new Sony Ericsson C903 Cyber-shot phone set for release next month.

The C903 has a five-megapixel camera with up to 16x digital zoom. Building on Sony Ericsson’s digital camera heritage, the phone has a protective sliding lens cover, and crystal clear, auto rotating 2.4” display.

Aside from Smile Shutter, face detection, BestPic and GPS-support, the C903 is ready for Picasa, Flickr and YouTube connections.

Visitors to Smile Booths in SM Supermalls will be able to experience capturing smiles with these new phones throughout the Spread the Smiles campaign.

Participating malls are SM North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Mall of Asia, SM Cebu, SM Davao, SM Iloilo, SM Pampanga, SM Davao and SM Manila on selected dates.

The phones will also be available in Sony Ericsson Experience Shops and authorized dealers nationwide.
