Globe introduces new personal BlackBerry plans

-

MANILA, Philippines – “We want our Globe subscribers to get the best of communication there is available,” said Ramon Medina, head of professionals, acquisition and usage of Globe’s business segment group. “With the way the BlackBerry has been positioning itself we have received lots of inquiries as to when the units will be available to individual subscribers.”

And how. Globe has been introducing the newest and best models of the Research in Motion’s BlackBerry for a few years now because the telecom company has noticed how its customers are continuously looking for better ways to stay connected.

A few years back, Globe introduced the BlackBerry Pearl. Even then, the business segment group of Globe believed that the BlackBerry units would find its way into the market of mainstream users — they were not wrong.

I remember at the time, about three to four years ago, that Globe still looked to its corporate clients as those who would be interested in the BlackBerry Pearl. So, together with RIM, Globe positioned the BlackBerry Pearl in such a way that it would also catch the fancy of individual users, not just corporate clients.

What Globe envisioned at the time, has now become a reality.

“We have had inquiries from individual clients about whether they can get a BlackBerry handset,” said Medina. “So, we at Globe have opted to make the BlackBerry starting with the latest unit, the BlackBerry Storm available to our individual clients.”

What better time is there than now? Globe has left no stone unturned in making sure that it keeps its subscribers whether corporate or individual always connected through the best network connection possible.

Globe brings the BlackBerry to Filipino consumers as for the first time individuals can now get their very own BlackBerry. Individual consumers can subscribe to Globe’s new Personal BlackBerry Plans for their BlackBerry and BlackBerry Connect handsets.

The new Personal BlackBerry Plans are ideal for frequent e-mail users and can also be used for instant messaging and mobile Internet surfing.

“Getting a personal BlackBerry service is now made easier by Globe. Consumers can get the latest BlackBerry handsets available with Globe’s postpaid plans at Globe Business Centers nationwide. Just subscribe to a Personal BlackBerry Plan of your choice and start receiving your e-mails instantly wherever you are,” said Ferdinand de la Cruz, Globe’s Consumer Wireless Business head.

He added: “The new BlackBerry Storm will also be available to Filipino consumers and Globe subscribers. Consumers can make the most of their BlackBerry Storm and other BlackBerry devices by subscribing to Globe’s new Personal BlackBerry Plans. These are one-of-a-kind plans that, combined with our GPlans and GFlex Plans, put together a call, text messaging and mobile Internet package in one so customers can fully enjoy their BlackBerry handsets.”

The Personal BlackBerry Plans are postpaid data plans that offer free data. Globe’s Personal BlackBerry Plans are available at Plan 700 for 5MB of data, which is approximately 55 e-mails per day. The Plan 850 gives subscriber 8MB of data for approximately 90 e-mails per day. The Plan 1100 allows 10MB of data so its user gets approximately 115 e-mails per day. These are based on estimated e-mails using a BlackBerry handset.

Globe’s new Personal BlackBerry Plans provide postpaid subscribers more economical rates for Internet usage using their favorite BlackBerry handsets. These are an add-on to existing Globe postpaid plans so one gets consumable data. Regular mobile Internet browsing rates of P0.15 per KB apply in excess of the plan.

The business centers with BlackBerry Storm demo units are SM North Edsa, SM Megamall, Shangri-La Plaza, Alabang Town Center, Glorietta, Trinoma, SM Mall of Asia, Robinson’s Place, Manila, The Podium, Greenhills Shopping Center, Gateway, Quezon Avenue, Park Square, Robinson’s Galleria, and Greenbelt 4.

“We are sure that the BlackBerry Storm will be one of our hot selling units because more and more of our consumers are into keeping in touch through e-mail,” quipped Medina. “Of course, that many subscribers also keep in touch through YM, BlackBerry Messenger and Facebook is another great reason why we see people catching on to the BlackBerry lifestyle.” – Kathy Moran
