Smart Buddy digital drive gets 2,000 MMS entries

Smart Communications Inc. has announced the winners of the Smart Buddy“ Me na Me Moments with the Nokia 5000,” a unique and fully digital campaign that gathered more than 2,100 photo entries and generated more than 30,000 page views over a four-week period, by combining the largely untapped technology of MMS and online engagement.

Smart partnered with Nokia Philippines when it launched “Me na Me Moments,” which allowed Smart Buddy subscribers to use the new Nokia 5000 handset — the Finnish handset maker’s most affordable 1.3-megapixel camera phone to date — to capture photos and submit them via MMS for a chance to be part of a giant “Me na Me” photo mosaic.

To engage more participants, an online album allowed people to browse and vote for the best photo entries, with the top three winning P25,000 each. 

The photos submitted by Gino Carlo Rovedillo, Constantino Canete Jr., and Sophia Dayap bested all the other entries sent via MMS.  

MMS stands for multimedia messaging service, a mobile messaging standard which allows a mobile phone user to send not just text, but also photos, sound clips, graphics, and video, from one handset to another.

Sending an MMS from a Smart handset to another Smart number costs only P1, and subscribers just need to activate the MMS settings of their handset to start sending MMS to their friends, by texting SET <phone model> to 211 (Ex: SET N5000) for free.

“I was surprised and very excited to hear that I won. I took the picture and sent it via MMS right after I received an SMS broadcast about the campaign, only because I would love to be part of the Smart Buddy ‘Me na Me’ mosaic. I’d like to thank Smart for providing me with the opportunity to take part in this campaign,” Rovedillo said.
