Smart subscribers can join anti-TB drive

-

A more convenient, more personal way to support aid organizations is now available to subscribers of Smart Communications Inc.

Smart has partnered with the Philippine Tuberculosis Society Inc. (PTSI) to enable its subscribers to convert their airtime load into donations to the organization via SMS.

For as little as 25 centavos per day, or a subscription of P5 for every 20 days, a Smart subscriber may support the PTSI.

They simply need to choose between donating P5, P10, P25, P50 or P100 by sending TB <5/10/25/50/100> ON to 3571. They can also choose to donate on a one-time basis, by sending TB <5/10/25/50/100> 3571.

Their donation will come from their airtime load, providing them a more personal, hassle-free way to support the institution.

Tuberculosis is one of the top 10 killer diseases in the Philippines, with about 75 Filipinos dying of TB every day.

Since its founding in 1910, the PTSI has been dedicated to the prevention and control of TB in the country, and it complements the government’s national TB-control program by intensifying research and development, and networking with partner agencies.

With the partnership, Smart subscribers now have a chance to contribute to PTSI and help in the fight to eradicate TB in the country.

Smart provides the same kind of service to other charitable organizations such as the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) and Pondo ng Pinoy.

“We provide the avenue through which our subscribers may participate in nation-building and support the causes they espouse, in their own way. Though this service, anyone with a Smart mobile phone, anytime, anywhere, has a chance to share his blessings,” says Danilo Mojica, head of Smart’s Wireless Consumer Division.
